Raj is a playboy who live a very happy life with his father in London. Simran is a gorgeous girl who also lives in London with her conservative and strict father. Raj has no intention to restrict his attention towards a single girl. He has no goal in life neither an aim. 

 



 

Everything changes when he meet Simran while on a journey across Europe. At the end of the journey they are strongly bonded to each other. None of them realize that it is love until they reach their homes. Only then they realize they cannot live the rest of their lives without each other. 

 

Unfortunately, Simran is already engaged to a son of a friend of her father who lives in India. Her father get to know about her secret love and decided to leave London immediately to arrange Simran's wedding. The day after they left, Raj came to simran's house to express his strong love feeling towards her. But he was too late.

 

Raj is not going to let go his love so easily. He also travel to India to find Simran. He find Simran there. The two lovers promise each other to never to leave each other ever again. But it is not an easy task for Raj to take her back to London as his bride. There are several parties to win over including her father who is obviously the hardest nut to crack. 




 

Will he be able to win her hand and take her back to London as his bride? The answer is in the film.




 

Dilwale dulhaniya lejayenge is definitely one of the most interesting and most popular Bollywood love story ever told. It has proven by the steady popularity it has gain ever since it has shown in the big screen. It has also become turning point for both  Shah Rukh Khan (Raj) and Kajol (Simran) in their respective carriers. This is also the director debut for the famous Bollywood film director Aditya Chopra. So, this is a turning point for him as well. 

The film has also decorated with several magnificent songs. These songs are extremely popular even in the present. This film is also the longest Running film in the Bollywod cinema. It is still shown in the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai.(almost 25 years).

From the Box Office point of view, the film has earned around 1.2 billion Indian rupees up to date.

There is a very important massage in the film as well. If the love is strong enough it can convince your parents eventually. Eloping is not always the answer. Think about it. Never betray your parents even for the love of your life. They have sacrificed too much for you. Without their consent your life will become an empty cell.It is a fact.
