Abigail (2019)... A Russian sci-fi movie in 8 clauses
- Abigail is a fantastic sci-fi film from Russia.
- It is not just a science fiction; it is also a steampunk adventure. That means that the technology in this film is based on 19th century's machinery designs. The best example is the air-craft we can see in this film.
- The story is based on a fantasy world. In this world, there are two kinds of people and one of these kinds have magical powers.
- It is ruled by a dictator. He does not have magical powers but he has a machine to extract the power of magical people for his advantage. So, the world is not a safe place for the gifted community. Everyday they are being captured by the dictator's cruel army to send to the special prison which is situated in the sky.
- Abigail is a young girl who is in search of her lost scientist father.. She meet a special group of gifted people. They are organizing as rebels to fight against the dictator. Later she becomes the most powerful gifted person with enormous magical powers with the help of the leader of the rebel team.
- Eventually she becomes the guide of the rebel team with the help of her fairy.
- Her journey is not a smooth one. It is full of betrayals, dangerous encounters with enemies and riddles to solve.
- Overall it is definitely a good movie to watch. I didn't know that Russian film industry has thrived up to this level. Even though there are lots of flows comparison to a Hollywood grade A movie, this movie is definitely a great job from a developing movie industry such as Russian. Animations are simply superb and definitely second to none.
