Matilda De Angelis: Rising Star in Italian Film and Television

Matilda De Angelis is a young Italian actress and singer who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Her career began with her passion for music, and she eventually landed her first acting role in the film Italian Race. Since then, she has starred in several hit films and television shows, including The Undoing and Rose Island. However, her career has not been without controversy, as she has faced backlash for her on-screen nudity and rumors of plastic surgery.

From Music to Acting

Matilda De Angelis was born on September 11, 1995, in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. She developed an interest in music at a young age and began playing guitar and violin when she was thirteen. In 2011, she joined the band Rumba de Bodas and began singing professionally. The band released an album, Karnaval Fou, in 2014.

De Angelis' acting career began when she was noticed by director Matteo Rovere, who cast her as the lead in his film Italian Race (2016). Her debut role earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 2017 David di Donatello Awards, as well as the Flaiano Prize and Nastro d'argento for Best Newcomer.

Controversies

De Angelis has faced two major controversies in her career. The first was due to her nude scenes in the HBO drama The Undoing. While some praised her performance and commitment to the role, others criticized the show's use of female nudity for shock value. De Angelis herself defended her performance, stating that she was more focused on the emotional depth of her character than the nudity.

The second controversy surrounds rumors of plastic surgery. Some fans have speculated that De Angelis has undergone procedures like a nose job and lip fillers. De Angelis has not confirmed or denied these rumors, but she has spoken out about the pressure to conform to Hollywood's unrealistic beauty standards.

Recent Work

Despite the controversies, De Angelis' career continues to thrive. In addition to her role in The Undoing, she starred in the Netflix film Rose Island, for which she won the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress. She also co-hosted the first evening of the Sanremo Festival 2021 alongside Amadeus and has been cast in the upcoming film The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

De Angelis' fearlessness and willingness to take risks have made her a rising star in Italian film and television. While her career has not been without controversy, she remains committed to her craft and to breaking down barriers for women in the entertainment industry.
