A bigger splash ..A 2015 triangle love story...
A bigger splash is an excellent piece of work from the film industry of Italia. They have proven once again they are top notch story tellers; specially about romance.
This amazing film is based on an older movie called " La Piscine" from 1969. It is also a part of film trilogy. The first one is 2009 film "I Am Love" and the last one is 2017 film" Call Me by Your Name". This one is the in between film which was originally released on the year 2015.
The story of this film is as interesting as a kiss of a virgin. I really liked it even though it contains a tragedy which involves of a loss of a lover. In summery, there is a couple on a Holiday. One of ex-lover of the wife (she is a famous Rock star) comes to visit them. The ex-lover is still in love with the lady very much. Even though she does not have any love feelings towards him they ended up having sex one day while exploring the area together. But the whole story does not just end there. The ex-lover is desperately trying to get her back. He is simply an arrogant bastard. He start a quarrel with the husband which ended up tragically and pretty bad.
there is a lesson we all must learn about love. It is not something we can take with force. If you try to gain something forcefully out of love, it will bring bad luck. So, never ever mix love with the hate.
There is another minor romantic piece in this film. It is between the husband and the daughter (Dakota Johnson plays this role) of the ex-lover who also visit the couple. Anyway, there is no strong bond between these two. Obviously it is sex only relationship where there is no love at all.
This romantic-thriller had been nominated for several international film awards and won about couple of them including the "Best Innovative Budget Award" from 2015 "Venice Film Festival".
Finally, If you are a fan of European classic films, this is definitely a film for you. On the other hand, even if you are not but still is a fan of top quality romantic drams, you have to try this out.
